This section of the User Preferences Plot tab is used to define the required behaviour for the plot cursor.
Attribute: |
Default: |
Purpose: |
Highlight new X-Y Data (Check box) |
Enabled |
As X-Y data displays two OPC items plotted against each other it is not easy to determine the location of new data as it arrives. Ticking this check box circles and colours the values for the most recent n scans (see following item) using the pen color of the Y item so that new data can be more easily identified. Older data is coloured using the pen color from the X item. This gives a visual indication of the data aging.
Note: This attribute can be overidden on a per plot basis via Cursors section of the Plot Properties Preference Tab. |
Highlight new X-Y Data (Value box) |
1 |
This field dictates the number of items that will be highlighted as being new data on X-Y Graphs. However, it does not directly control the number of pairs that will be highlighted which is actually a time period calculated by multiplying the value chosen for this field with the refresh rate of the active plot. So for a plot with a 5 second refresh rate, setting a value of 12 will mean that the most recent 1 minutes data is highlighted. For a plot with 1 minute refresh rate, setting a value of 60 will mean the last hours data is highlighted and so on.
Note: Since this setting is used to calculate a time period the number of pairs highlighted as new data will decrease once plot compression comes into effect when zooming out. Tip: A plots refresh rate can be viewed on the Plot Properties Details Tab in the Refresh Rate field when the Compression rate is 1:1 or lower (i.e. 1:n). |
Disabled |
Tick this check box to allow pens to be highlighted within plots. The highlight feature is activated by moving the mouse over the required pen in the Item Details Area. Highlighting works by trebling the line thickness of the chosen pen.
Tip: For more details, see the appropriate section in The Plot Window. |
