In addition to trending data read from OPC DA Servers, SNMP enabled devices, Windows Performance counters, Network Ping statistics, OPC UA Servers or the output from a third party script/application. Sapphire Trend also maintains it's own specialist data locations providing items that can be trended.
Specialist Data Locations
Data Location: |
Description: |
__SYSTEM__
|
System items. These items are automatically added to each SDP at creation time and can be used to monitor the performance of the SDP. Examples would be the scan time for each update or the overall quality of a scan. |
__PERF__ |
Performance data items. These are optional items which can be used to analyze the performance of the Sapphire Collector. Once loaded the items are then updated by the Sapphire Collector and can be trended. |
Note: Since System items are automatically included in each SDP, they cannot be deleted.
Adding Performance Items to an SDR
To add Performance items to an SDR, use the Add item dialog, select a Data Location of __PERF__ and then use the browse button to view the available Performance items.
Performance items are available for each of the following categories:
Collector Statistics - details of the Collector setup and operating status.
Data Locations - information relating to all of the Data Locations that are in use (including load which can be useful for determining how much load is being placed on the underlying control system).
Miscellaneous - test items (such as sine waves).
Process - Process information relating to the Sapphire Collector.
SDRs - Item counts for each SDR in the Sapphire Collector.
Time - the clock time on the Collector node.
Tip: As item names must be unique within an SDR each performance item can only be created once per SDR. However, the collection frequency for performance items can be modified in the same way as for genuine OPC items (see the item Frequency section).
