Trending Direct from an OPC Server

In order to trend data 'direct' from an OPCServer the following steps should be performed:

1.  Run stPro.

To start stPro, either

OR

2.  Create a new Plot.

Before data can be trended a new plot window must be created. To do this either:

OR

3.  Connect to the required OPC Server

You will then be presented with the logon dialog.  Use the network browse option to pick the required OPC Server as the data source.

Note:  For a new installation, no data sources will be offered in the drop down list. To establish a connection use the browse button and navigate to the required DA or HDA OPCServer.

4.  Create a list of the required OPC items.

You must now build up the list of required OPC items that you wish to trend.  To do this either:

OR

From the Plot Properties dialog click on the Mapping Tab.

Click on the Items button and then browse the OPCServer item name space in order to build up the required list of items.

Click OK once the required items have been made available as Pens by adding them to the right-hand side of the dialog.

5.  Map the required Pens.

From the Plot Properties dialog click on the Mapping Tab.

The required OPC items can then be assigned to pens by double clicking the names of the required items in the item list area.

Click OK to close the dialog.

You are now trending data!

Note:  If the 'Make all new Items Pens' check box was checked during Step 3 then all the chosen items will automatically have been made pens.

Tip:  For further details on trending features (such as changing the time period displayed, adding more pens, setting user preferences or auto scaling options) see the appropriate section of the help.
