Jemmac Software
SapphireTrend V5-1 released
18-09-2009
Release V5-1 is the latest version of SapphireTrend, Jemmac Software's world leading real-time process visualization package.

Headline features in V5-1 include the New Plot Wizard, the addition of Plot Browse History, New User Preferences for Always Synchronizing Plots, Live Updates for Pen Pointers, displaying the plot Compression Ratio on plot titles ... and much more!

Headline features in V5-1:

  • New Plot Wizard - The New Plot Wizard reduces the learning curve for users working with stPro for the first time. It leads them through the process of configuring a trend in three simple steps. The New Plot Wizard is equally useful for experienced users as it remembers the settings last used, thereby speeding up the process of creating multiple plots from a single data source.

  • Plot Browse History - stPro now maintains a Plot Browse History storing the duration, end time and scan status of a plot as the user zooms and pans.

The user can then navigate forwards and backwards through the Plot Browse History returning to time periods and durations that have been recently viewed. This helps to maintain context when analysing trends.

Note: The feature is analogous to the History feature supported by web browsers that allows users to return to previously viewed web pages.

  • Compression Ratio - For release V5-1 a new User preference has been added allowing the Compression Ratio for each plot to be displayed at the end of the plot title.

This provides a useful indication of both the granularity of the data being displayed and also how far 'zoomed in' or 'out' the trend is.

A Compression Ratio of less than 1:1 (i.e. 1:6) means that the data will be need to be 'spread out' to fill the display. Conversely ratios greater than 1:1 (i.e. 24:1) indicate that there are more data points than can be displayed, so Compression will be in effect.

  • Pen Pointer Live Updates.
    (Pen Pointer 'Live Updates')
Pen Pointer 'Live Updates' - This feature causes the optional Pen Pointers to update at the data collection frequency regardless of the plot duration being displayed.

This allows the user to view longer periods whilst still being able to view the most recent data.

The feature is similar in concept to the Preview Pane, but does not require space to be given up in the main plot area.
